Natural Language Search
Find any file by describing it in plain words — no exact names, folders or filters required.
Search in plain language
The search bar in Smart Drive understands everyday language. Instead of remembering a file name, describe what you are looking for — the type of document, what it is about, roughly when it was added — and Smart Drive returns matching files ranked by relevance.
| Ask | Smart Drive finds |
|---|---|
| "find the invoice PDF from March" | PDF files categorized as invoices, dated around March |
| "the contract I uploaded last week" | Recently uploaded documents the AI identified as contracts |
| "photos of the whiteboard from the planning meeting" | Images whose OCR text mentions the planning topics |
| "spreadsheets shared with the finance team" | Shared spreadsheet files matching those access controls |
What search looks at
Natural-language search works because Smart Drive understands more than file names. Several layers of information are searched together:
File metadata
Names, types, sizes, dates and folder locations.
OCR text
The full text extracted from scanned documents and images, so a photographed receipt is as findable as a typed one.
AI categories
The categories the Smart Organizer assigned — invoices, contracts, photos and more — narrow results automatically.
Search tips
Be as specific as you naturally would with a colleague. Mentioning a file type ("PDF", "spreadsheet"), a time frame ("from March", "last week") or a topic gives the AI more to match on and pushes the right file to the top.
You can also pose the same question to the AI Assistant in the Floating AI Hub. It will run the search for you and can follow up — for example, sharing the file it found or summarizing what is inside it.
